Nicholas Ragano

AMFT - Associate Marriage and Family Therapist - CA AMFT 162121

I believe therapy works best when you feel genuinely understood—not just listened to. Everyone experiences life differently, which is why I take the time to understand your story from your perspective before deciding on the best path forward. Rather than relying on a one-size-fits-all approach, I tailor therapy to your unique experiences, strengths, and goals.

One of the things clients often notice is how naturally our conversations feel. Therapy doesn't have to feel cold, overly clinical, or uncomfortable. I believe meaningful growth happens when you feel safe enough to be yourself, so I work to create an environment that feels genuine, relaxed, and human. That often means using humor when it's helpful, because sometimes laughter can make difficult conversations feel a little less overwhelming. While we take your struggles seriously, therapy doesn't always have to feel serious.

I draw from several evidence-based approaches, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Internal Family Systems (IFS), and Narrative Therapy. Rather than expecting you to fit into one method, I adapt these approaches to fit you. Together, we'll identify unhelpful patterns, explore the experiences that have shaped your story, and build practical tools that support lasting change.

Throughout my career, I've had the opportunity to work with a wide variety of clients and settings. I have experience providing school-based therapy for middle and high school students, helping adults navigate anxiety, depression, family conflict, and life's many transitions. I've also facilitated a domestic violence treatment group, where I worked with individuals committed to understanding their behaviors, developing healthier relationships, and creating lasting change.

Today, I work with adolescents and adults experiencing concerns such as:

●      Anxiety

●      Depression

●      Trauma

●      Life transitions

●      Stress

●      Relationship challenges

●      Self-esteem and confidence

●      Behavioral concerns in teens

I earned my Master of Science in Marriage and Family Therapy from Capella University and continue to build on that foundation through ongoing professional development and evidence-based practice.

What you can expect working with Nicholas

-A warm, welcoming environment where you can be yourself without fear of judgment.

-A therapist who takes the time to genuinely understand your perspective before offering solutions.

-Therapy that feels human, conversational, and collaborative—not cold or overly clinical.

-Humor when it's helpful, because healing doesn't always have to be heavy.

-Evidence-based approaches tailored to your unique needs, goals, and experiences.

-Practical tools you can use outside of sessions to create meaningful, lasting change.

Many people come to therapy expecting it to feel awkward or overly clinical. My goal is for that feeling to disappear quickly. Building genuine connections has always been one of my greatest strengths, and I believe people make the most progress when they feel comfortable enough to be themselves. I strive to create a space that feels like a real conversation—one where you feel understood, accepted, and never judged.
